Episode #88 – The Children Are Our Future

This week: I’m sharing a few thoughts whilst in the car once again, heading back from networking event for school kids.

Each year, I take part in a business networking event at a nearby school. It’s an unpaid arrangement; the value for me comes in not just helping to inspire the students in their education, but in having the chance to analyse the way I go about my work in the process of our many conversations.

Some quick links to things mentioned in this show:

I always love working with and for kids.

At the experience of sounding shallow however, corporate photography is also one of my key areas on income. I do a good deal for children’s magazines, text books and trade publications for teachers etc.

Now, there are two pro-bono gigs I do each year but neither of them is specifically about or for kids though kids are involved with one of them.

    Thanks for the comment, Barry.

It is true that we all have to earn our living… But I think a lot of people could do more to help inspire the next generation.

Helping young people offers a great feel-good factor and often, when people say they don’t have the time, what they actually mean is they don’t want to make the time.

    Keep up the good work!

I agree with you whole heartedly and now I nearly feel bad because I —- sound so greedy but I do with I do I guess.

One of my pro-bono gig each year is to help raise money to buy proper helmets of kids that race motocross that can’t afford them.

It’s fun. Any sales I/we make go to the kids including print sales on the spot and photos that might be licensed later.

The other pro-bono gig I do is to help raise cash for our local fire department.

Anyway, you have a great day. I’m up early and have a list of honey-do’s a mile long that need to get taken care of!

      Barry
