A Quick Hammock Overnighter (Recce)

At the end of last week, I headed to the woods of an overnight stay in the hammock. Partly self-indulgent (I love spending time in the hammock in woodland), it was mostly a stealth recce of sorts.

It all started when I put out a request on Facebook, seeing if anyone knew of anyone who owned – or had access to – a patch of private woodland fairly close by*. Sure enough, I had a number of leads and so it was that I ended up spending the night on land owned by an old school friend!

*I’m still on the look-out of other areas – please get in touch if you think you can help!

As is often the way, due to other commitments, I headed off later than planned and finally set up just as the sun was dipping behind the horizon.

This was the first overnight outing for my latest hammock – a DD Hammocks SupeprLight Frontline – and overall, I have to say it performed great, exactly as I’d hoped.

The whole point of the trip was to gather information for the future (trips and content) – and so I’ve made a mental note of the odd necessary tweak here and there, as well as considerations which relate to this particular hammock.

I’ll spare the details, but I expect to be releasing a video in the near future, covering everything.

These trips invariably bring in my Test/Review activities – and this one was no exception. In use were the following:

Vango Force Ten Vulcan -12 sleeping bag

Vango Force Ten Alplite 35 rucksack

Coast FL11 dual colour head torch

GP 15000mAm PowerBank (for charging phone etc)

Updates about all Test/Review items can always be found over on [my Instagram feed] and you’re always welcome to ask me about them in real time – my views are completely impartial.

I’m also giving extra thought towards my camping food at the moment. I use a range of options – from fresh ingredients thrown together on the day, to pre-prepared meals such as those by Firepot (see a previous Test/Review here, to see what all the fuss is about).

I have a food dehydrator which really should be used more, so expect to see experiments along those lines, too!

So, just a quick update on this occasion. All in all, it was a great little trip to round off a busy week – and very worthwhile.
