Whilst I’ve always known that you guys really enjoy what I do here on The Active Photographer (judging by the many emails, tweets and Facebook messages I receive), I never get tired of hearing what you have to say. Whether it’s a lengthy conversation or simply 140 characters, your feedback really is so important. Does that sound clichéd? Of course it does, but the fact is it’s true.
Here’s the point. I have a whole host of sketches, notes and protracted plans for fresh content, which I desperately want to make see the light of day. Some relate to behind-the-scenes videos (I know you love those), others are centred around advice, how-to articles and the Jolly photo-camping events.
The thing is, as well as taking time to produce, obviously some of the projects I have in mind require – how can I put this delicately? – more of a financial investment.
As I continue to work ever closer with manufacturers and individuals from the outdoor world, I want to extend the experience for all involved – including followers of my activities. This requires picking the most striking locations, the right models, great products and a top-class team to support me. Naturally, sharing all of this via the wonders of podcasting and social media is central to the successful realisation of my plans.
Here’s an example. I would dearly love to arrange long weekends, road trips, during which we set up and produce some amazing imagery to share with you. It could be that I orchestrate something like a wild-camp fashion shoot in an ancient woodland or perhaps an outdoor-meets-popular-culture series captured on a weather-beaten coastline. I don’t know – the possibilities are endless.
The plan would be to hit the road, recording audio as we go, as well as stopping regularly to shoot pictures and behind-the-scenes videos and stills. Obviously, we’d send out regular updates through the usual channels, but how amazing would it be to also have a live broadcast each night to keep you all up-to-date and answer questions about what we’ve been up to?!
Projects like that require a fair whack of investment, as I’m sure you can appreciate. Connectivity, accommodation, fuel, food and more besides… all need to be factored into the mix.
So here’s the shameless plea, then…
To help me produce more of the stuff that I know you love to see and hear, I would really, really appreciate it if you could see your way clear to donate a small amount towards making the dream come true. As the traditional protocol goes, all I’m asking for is the cost of a cuppa (£2.50… or more if you are especially keen to see me make things happen!).
“But what’s in it for me?!!!”, I hear you cry. Well obviously there’s the great content itself, along with my eternal gratitude. But on top of this, I will gladly work my magic in order to give you recognition via shout-outs to your own sites, Flickr collections, chosen charities, whatever (unless you’d rather remain anonymous). You’ll also own a little bit of my soul, too (probably… maybe).
Assuming you’re on board, I’ve made it really easy for you to show your support. Simply hit one of the links below, which will then take you to the donation page where you can do so via PayPal or regular account.
Cuppa me up…
… or go that little bit further.
It goes without saying, of course, but… Thank you.
What a great idea.
Is there anyway we can setup a recurring donation?
I think it is a great way to support our favourite podcasts. And for us to get more of the content we like.
All the best and keep up the good work.
Thanks, Mark…
I am currently looking into ways to set up a recurring donation system. So far, from what I gather, it looks like I’d have to arrange a set-price PayPal subscription and have an individual billed each month.
I may be wrong, but I gather PayPal doesn’t currently offer the individual the opportunity to set up a recurring donation themselves.
I’ll update you shortly, once I’ve got this sorted :)
