Episode #37 – The Camera Documenting Life

This week: Prompted by recent events, I’m thinking about the role cameras play in our everyday lives – even if we don’t realise it.

As I was driving back from the Bournemouth Air Festival a couple of weekends ago, news broke of an incident where a plane crashed shortly after performing. This got me pondering the importance cameras play in capturing key moments as they happen – both good and bad – and what would happen if we didn’t play witness to such happenings.

  1. Agreed, it’s only when you stop and think about it your right, when something like a camera is used everyday I suppose it’s just taken for granted like a lot things these days

    Cheers chris

  2. Absolutely, Chris – and every now and then, we get situations which remind us.

Similar ‘light bulb’ moments occur when people haven’t backed up their images, when all those precious memories are lost forever. Poignant moments that make you think. I spoke about this way back in Episode 3, which you might be interested in giving a listen – http://theactivephotographer.com/2011/01/episode-3-family-and-festivities/
