Video: Woodland Hammock Timelapse Test

In my quest to think broadly in a creative sense recently, I’ve been playing around a bit more with time-lapse video.

Now, this is nothing new to me – for many years, I’ve used the technique when documenting photo shoots, to great effect. In these cases, I set a camera up in a convenient position – usually in the corner of the room or just out of shot when working on location – and forget about it for the duration.

For those who don’t know, it works by taking a picture every couple of seconds and then stitching all the frames together in one continuous video.

Below is a rough cut from a recent trip out into the woods (more to follow about that soon). I’ve quickly put some music over the top of it, which I think adds something to the mix.

For the sake of experimentation, the subject matter and actions aren’t crucial here… It’s the principal of how I’ve employed the technique.

The more I experiment with these videos (especially using split-screen footage, as in this example), the more I’m beginning to re-think the commercial applications once again.

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the subject…
