Are You Taking A Holistic Approach?

It’s been a long time since I considered myself as simply ‘photographer’ – a label which I held onto for so very long. Sure, I take pictures for myself, my online content and for other people – but the extent to which I’ve broadened my approach to the ways I help others is something you might not be aware of.

Over recent weeks, I’ve been pondering just what it is that I do, in terms of how one might place a tag on my services and the ways in which I do indeed help people. I’ve gone back and forth – and continue to do so in some respects – trying to sum-up the wider offerings that I now present to the outdoors, leisure and lifestyle community.

To put things in a ‘shopping list’ style break-down, you can most readily class me as: photographer, coach/consultant, writer. Seeing these words on the screen, you don’t really get the full picture, naturally (what I do is actually very broad, thanks to the tools and platforms I use) – but there is one common thread running through all of them:

I am here to help those who enjoy and promote an active lifestyle.

I titled this post ‘Are You Taking A Holistic Approach?’ because that’s exactly how I’ve come to operate both in terms of my own and paid-for output. It’s not simply a case of taking pictures or saying ‘do this, this and this’ – it’s a different approach that takes in the wider view addressing the what, why and how of these active aficionados’ own activities.

Very rarely is the solution forthcoming from one angle; it’s usually a combination of multiple factors which, when put together in the grand scheme of things, produce the end result we’re looking for.

Maybe you love the outdoors and want to share your adventures by telling those stories in pictures.

Maybe you’re setting out to put others first, leading by example and building an online community that will benefit those who are most in need.

Either way, I’d encourage you to pause for a moment and consider the bigger picture.

If something about what you do has been niggling for a while, there’s probably a good reason for this – and addressing it, working to find the resolution, is the first step toward getting the answers you’re looking for.
